Buy AAPL Stock - Take Advantage of Short-Term Apple Dip ...The big reason why Apple posted this miss is because they are a victim of their own success. Customers held off on purchasing iPhones this quarter due to rumors that the company would be introducing a newer version in October. Of course that is exactly what happened, and Apple announced first day pre-orders exceeded 1 million units and exceeded the previous record of 600,000.

In total, they sold over 4 million of the new units in the first three days. This represents more than double the 1.7 million sold by Apple last year during the introduction of the iPhone 4. Say whatever you want’. but Apple will never be the same without Steve Jobs. I fear people will loose confidence in Apple, especially after todays conference. As powerful as the A5 chip is the end user will only see the Bigger 4.3′ screen VS a smaller 3.5′ screen. To them it looks just like the 16 month old iPhone 4′ Its not like used to be back when the 3GS came out the competition is getting better and Apple really needed to stay ahead but It sure doesn’t seem like they are doing it.

No real journalism, just BS nonsense that is design to feed the beast. Apple released an excellent follow-up product with amazing features ‘ and NOT a mere speed bump. In any normal world without the incessant hype and conjecture ‘ all would have been warmly received. At this point, I have to wonder if Apple’s detractors and competitors weren’t complicit in all of the hype and speculation. Certainly, Apple had nothing to do with it ‘ but if you read the posts here you would think Apple just kicked their dog. Hmmmphf. Stocks slumped to the lows of the session, but quickly turned around mid-morning. Volume was higher on the day, but it was slipping heading into the final hour. Stocks simply were not to be denied and just after 3pm a news story from the Telegraph in London hinted at a proposed two trillion euro bailout plan agreed upon by France and Germany. Stocks took off and volume vaulted higher, but ended lower on the session. There was no doubts today was a follow-through day and we’ll treat it as such.

Joan Baez's '60s folk spirit proves relevant to today's audienceAs one would expect from Baez, her set consisted of folk ballads including reinterpretations of classic songs by the likes of Bob Dylan, The Band, Elvis Costello, the Animals, Donovan, Johnny Cash, and John Lennon, as well as renditions of traditional American folk ballads mixed in with her own songs. She is also still bringing her hopeful, yet realistic, sense of social responsibility to the game at 70 years old. Baez was one of the voices of civil rights-era music, and the stories and messages she sings of remain relevant today.

Although Baez mostly sings songs written by others, she puts her own spin on them, and one gets the sense that she sings them to express her own personal feelings about politics, injustice, love, and imagining a better world. The songs are still relevant today. During the show, she called the Rolling Stones song ‘Salt of the Earth’ ‘an old song but a new idea’ that ‘is appropriate for the occupy-everythings,’ she said referencing ‘Occupy Wall Street’ protests.

I was disappointed the documentary doesn’t include her singing ‘Sweet Sir Galahad’ (unless I missed it). And I was under the misconception that she had become a lesbian’and wondered why it was not mentioned on the show’but now I google the topic and see I must have gotten that impression because she is done concerts and campaigned for lesbian rights. She has referred to herself as bi but has not really had lesbian relationships, except one short term long time ago.

Question by Skyblooms: Anyone see PBS’s documentary on Joan Baez this week on American Masters. How good was this show.. Her voice is one of an angel and she still sounds as good as when she was young. And the part where Bob Dylan speaks about ‘Diamond And Rust’ lyrics, how the words still move him, was illuminating since there seems to be some bad blood when she speaks about him (just my opinion) and he doesn’t seem to show emotions normally.

PERFORMANCES Sting: Back to Bass (Tonight-Tuesday and Wednesday): Sting hits Massey Hall for two nights in a tour celebrating the 25th anniversary of his solo career. Sting recently played in Washington DC to a fantastic review from the Washington Post so we’re pretty excited to see him here in the t-dot. From the Washington Post: ‘His voice shows no signs of aging, either. He stretched out the vocal cords whenever he asked his backup quintet to travel back to his vintage Police blotter: ‘Demolition Man’ and ‘Next to You’ were harder, faster and louder than ever. ‘Every Breath You Take,’ a piece of pop brilliance released in 1983, has aged as invisibly as its singer.’.

On Saturday at Glenn Gould Studio, Jazz Festivals Canada presents curated a showcase called Urban Jazz Landscape, which features three bands from across the country: Kyle Brenders Quartet, Parc X Trio, and Gordon Grdina Trio (and as you well know by now, Jazz performed at Glenn Gould Studio is pretty fantastic). Joan Baez – 2012 UK TourJoan Baez returns to the UK in February next year for a 22 date tour ‘ the tickets for which go on sale tomorrow (7th October). Joan’s most recent release is the re-mastered and expanded edition of her 1992 album Play Me Backwards which includes a bonus disc of previously unreleased Play Me Backwards demos including nine songs never before recorded.
